About me
My name is Jonathan Quirola. I was born in Quito-Ecuador. I studied a bachelor in Physics at Escuela Politécnica Nacional. Like a bachelor's thesis, I developed a timing and spectral analysis of a sample of long GRBs under the supervision of Prof. Nicolás Vásquez. Also, I was involved in projects related to astroparticle physics with Prof. Vásquez.
Aftermath, in 2016, I moved to Santiago de Chile to study a master's in Astrophysics at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile under the supervision of Prof. Franz Bauer. Like master thesis, I developed an XSPEC convolution model to fit the emission lines of SN1996cr, taking into account the Doppler shift effect and the geometry of the interaction (ejecta-circumstellar medium).
In 2023, I finished my Ph.D. at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with Prof. Franz Bauer on a new exotic population of extragalactic X-ray transients. We identified, classified, and characterized this novel sample of X-ray transients detected by the Chandra X-ray telescope.
Currently, I am a postdoc researcher, working on fast X-ray transients detected by the Einstein Probe space telescope.
